Secondary Processes

Overview

Manufacturing involves transforming raw materials into finished products using tools, machinery, and chemical procedures. These processes can be classified into main categories based on whether they:

  1. Create an initial shape from shapeless material (primary process)
  2. Modify an existing shape (while maintaining, reducing, or increasing cohesion) or change the material properties to enhance performance (secondary processes)

WERK24’s API automatically extracts process-related information from technical drawings, including surface treatments, heat treatments, and other manufacturing steps.

To ensure high accuracy and structured categorization, our system follows an expanded classification based on the DIN 8580:2022-12 standard. While we adhere to DIN 8580, our classification includes additional details to improve usability.

Process Categorization

WERK24 classifies manufacturing processes using the DIN 8580 standard. This categorization helps users identify the necessary production steps required for a part.

Important

This list is updated frequently. While we try to keep the changes to a minimal, we cannot fully guarantee that processes will not be renamed.
