What Are Asks?

Asks are structured queries that allow you to request specific information from an engineering drawing. They enable you to specify exactly what data you need to extract. You can submit several Asks in one request. On Pay as You Go and Production each page counts once per request, whatever Asks the request carries: on Production against the pages included in the plan, then at the plan's page rate. Send the Asks you need in one request: a second request for the same drawing counts again. See werk24.io/pricing for the rates.

How to Specify Asks

Asks can be imported directly from the Werk24 library and used as follows:

from werk24 import AskFeatures
asks = [AskFeatures()]

Available Asks

Werk24 currently supports the following Asks:

  • AskBalloons: Identifies and extracts the positions of balloons (annotations) on the sheet.
  • AskCustom: Triggers a customer-specific post-processing pipeline for bespoke outputs.
  • AskDocumentProfile: Returns the page count, the sheet format and a processing-time estimate. Read off the file before any interpretation begins, so it arrives almost immediately and costs nothing extra.
  • AskFeatures: Identifies and extracts specific features from the drawing, such as dimensions, threads, bores, chamfers, and other geometric elements.
  • AskInsights: Provides deeper insights beyond basic data extraction, including bounding dimensions, likely manufacturing methods, and secondary process classifications.
  • AskMetaData: Extracts metadata from the technical drawing, including details such as the drawing number, designation, material, and other key identifiers.
  • AskPageAssessment: Says what kind of page each page is (component drawing, assembly drawing, P&ID, wiring diagram, ...) and whether it carries welding callouts.
  • AskRedaction: Enables redaction of specific elements (e.g., removal of logos and proprietary information) from technical drawings.
  • AskReferencePositions: Returns the position (polygon) of extracted elements on the drawing, addressed via their reference IDs.
  • AskSheetImages: Generates thumbnails of the entire sheet image for quick previews.
  • AskViewImages: Produces thumbnails of specific views within the drawing for easy reference.

By leveraging these Asks effectively, you can streamline data extraction, enhance automation, and gain valuable insights from engineering drawings.
